Extell’s Central Park Tower finally launches sales

The tallest residential building in NYC is officially on the market

It's looking to be a big year for Billionaires' Row: Just one month after sales launched at 111 West 57th Street, Extell has followed suit at Central Park Tower, its behemoth located at 217 West 57th Street. The firm announced today that sales have officially launched for the 179 apartments in what it's calling "the definitive New York skyscraper." When it's completed, the supertall tower—clocking in at 1,550 feet high—will be the tallest residential building in the city.

The development has been somewhat shrouded in mystery since plans were announced more than five years ago. Construction got underway not long after, but details about the tower have been few and far between. We knew that Adrian Smith + Gordon Gill Architecture—the same firm working on Jeddah Tower in Dubai, which will be twice as tall as Central Park Tower—would be designing the supertall; we also that apartments were selling, and that they would be very pricey, but that was about it.

Today's announcement doesn't pull back the curtain too much, although it does come with a website for the project (accompanied by a short video that shows how the tower will make its mark on the skyline), and a few fresh renderings. The glass-and-steel tower will have cantilever over 57th Street, "creating Central Park views for all north-facing residences," per a press release.

Per Extell, the condos themselves will start on the building's 32nd floor, with apartments available in two- to eight-bedroom configurations. The developer is hyping the tower's "extraordinary views and floor plans," though the latter have yet to be officially revealed; but apartments will have generally large layouts, many with unencumbered views of the park. The smallest units will measure 1,435 square feet, while the largest will basically be a megamansion in the sky, at 17,500 square feet. The developer tapped design firm Rottet Studio, which has worked on luxury hotels like the St. Regis, for the condo's interiors.

There will also be 50,000 square feet of amenities spread out over several floors—including one area on the building's 100th floor—which will come with a bevy of over-the-top perks: 15,000-square-foot terrace, both indoor and outdoor pools, a playground, screening room, fitness center, and more.

One thing Extell isn't revealing yet is pricing, although the Real Deal previously reported that condos would start at above $1 million, and a good chunk of the apartments would be asking $60 million or above. Extell's in-house marketing team is handling sales.
