For $460K, an industrial-chic East Village studio with a sleeping loft

The apartment last sold for $227,458 in 2005

Welcome back to The Six-Digit Club, in which we take a look at a newish-to-market listing priced under $1 million, because nice things sometimes come in small packages. Send nominations to the tipline.

What to do with 13-foot ceilings? Loft them, of course. At least that's the answer in this East Village studio, where its vertical potential was tapped to add a sleeping loft. The apartment at 186 East 2nd Street, between Avenues A and B, just hit the market for $460,000—a steep jump from the $227,458 it last sold for in 2005.

The apartment, a condop, may be small but it squeezes in a few niceties. Those include an updated kitchen with a dishwasher and microwave, an attractive poplar floating staircase, a bright bathroom with a Toto toilet and Delta fixtures, and a good amount of concealed storage above the bathroom and kitchen.

The apartment is on the market wit Sylvia Dimova and Keith Mack at Corcoran. Taxes here run $546 a month with maintenance at $696.
