The tower will rise nearly 500 feet in Albee Square
Downtown Brooklyn's office and school tower at 420 Albee Square is now official. YIMBY spotted plans filed with the city's Department of Buildings for the 35-story structure, which is being developed by JEMB Realty.
The project has been in the works since 2015, but it wasn't until July this year that the city finalized the sale of the property on which this office tower will be built. YIMBY notes that FXFOWLE has been listed as the architect (Kohn Pedersen Fox was previously attached to design).
As plans stand right now, the first six floors of the building will be taken up by a school. Offices will be located on the floors above that. One Willoughby Square, as this project is known, will eventually soar to 495 feet.
YIMBY also spotted a couple of renderings for the project, but it's not yet clear if these are the most up to date, and new ones will likely emerge in the coming months. Construction on the project is scheduled to wrap sometime in 2020.
