The apartment hit the market for $11.5 million in July, and entered contract in August
Cosmetics giant Laura Mercier had no problem selling her two-bedroom Walker Tower apartment. The two-bedroom Walker Tower apartment entered contract at $11.5 million less than one month after Mercier listed it, the Post reported at the time. Now, that sale has closed for $10.6 million, public records show.
The swift sale clashes with a chorus of Curbed commenters all doubtful about the pad's ability to sell. Granted, the apartment did sell for under asking price, but its all-cash buyer may have sweetened the pot for Mercier.
Mercier is leaving behind her two-bedroom, two-bathroom high-floor apartment to return to her native France. She was one of the first to sign into the condo conversion, and paid $5.91 million in late 2013 for the 2,168-square-foot apartment.
The condo comes with floor-to-ceiling windows, French herringbone floors, and high ceilings. The master bedroom includes two walk-in closets, and a master bath with a cast-iron tub. The kitchen comes stocked with swanky appliances by Miele and Viking, including a wine cooler and a built-in coffee machine.
Mercier rose to prominence in the 1990s doing makeup for celebrities like Gwyneth Paltrow and Sarah Jessica Parker, and established her namesake brand in 1996. She's since sold the company, but still plays a big role in it. With her move back to France, Mercier is looking to expand her brand in Europe.
