What $6,000/month rents in NYC right now

See what $6,000/month rents you in neighborhoods like Midtown, Dumbo, and Hell's Kitchen

Welcome to Curbed Comparisons, a weekly column that explores what one can rent for a set dollar amount in various NYC neighborhoods. Is one man's studio another man's townhouse? Let's find out! Today, we're looking at apartments renting around $6,000/month.

↑ Rent this bright and spacious West Village one-bedroom for $5,995/month. The apartment has lots prewar character, including beamed ceilings, oversized windows, and an attention-grabbing wood-burning fireplace. There's a narrow windowed kitchen, and a walk-in closet. (The only bathroom, alas, is only accessible through the apartment's sole bedroom.)

For $5,995/month, you can also opt to have Central Park as your front yard with this Midtown home. Spanning 1,200 square feet, it comes with two en-suite bedrooms along with an open living/dining room, a large windowed kitchen, and lots of closet space.

A former firehouse in Greenpoint has been converted into rentals, and one of its units is going for $5,950/month. This floor-through loft measures 1,700 square feet, and has two bedrooms, two bathrooms, and lots of original architectural details (high ceilings, wood-framed factory windows). There's also an open kitchen and a balcony.

↑ For $6,003/month, there's this brand new three-bedroom, two-bathroom in Hell's Kitchen with an open concept layout. The apartment comes with floor-to-ceiling windows, bold columns, light hardwood floors, a washer/dryer machine, and views of the city's skyline.

↑ A light-filled Nolita apartment with two bedrooms and two bathrooms is renting for an even $6,000/month. It's got a loft-like feel thanks to its wide open rooms; the minimalist design that includes a sleek kitchen, plenty of windows, and not much else.

↑ And in Dumbo, a spacious two-bedroom the Clocktower building (home to Brooklyn's most expensive condo) is going for an even $6,000/month. This particular place is pretty big, and comes with 13-foot ceilings, an open kitchen with custom black cabinets and a matching island, a laundry room, and generous closet space.
