It's definitely unique
You don't see apartments like this every day: a quirky Greenpoint loft with customized features—including a nifty little cubbyhole built into a staircase—just hit the market with a $1.2 million price tag. That's definitely a lot for Greenpoint, where the median sale price is just about $990,000, but this particular pad has gotten a thorough makeover.
Architect Carlo Formisano worked with the sellers, who bought the place back in 2005, to transform it into a functional, family-friendly space. It was profiled in O (as in Oprah's magazine) not long after, detailing each of the design fixes that were made to make the space feel lighter and airier. One of those included extending a loft that now holds two bedrooms (but can be used for a bedroom and an office).

Other perks of the space include custom-built everything, from the kitchen and dining area to that unique staircase. While much of the apartment has a neutral, minimalist palette, there's a bathroom covered in striking imported Italian tile.

Oh, and there's also a killer roof deck: the private outdoor space measures 600 square feet and has its own pergola; there's also a smaller patio just off the dining room, which probably explains why the brokerbabble touts this as "the ultimate in indoor/outdoor living."
