New York rent comparisons: What $1,500/month gets you right now

Welcome to Curbed Comparisons, a weekly column that explores what one can rent for a set dollar amount in various NYC neighborhoods. Is one man's studio another man's townhouse? Let's find out! Today, we're looking at apartments renting around $1,500/month.

There aren't enough pictures to give a full idea of what the space has to offer, but it's evident that there's decent natural light and new stainless steel appliances. ↑ In Harlem, $1,550/month gets you a cozy studio with a revamped bathroom, hardwood floors, and modern appliances in the tiny kitchen. Otherwise, there isn't a whole lot going on within this practical space.

↑ Rent this spacious one-bedroom apartment in the Bronx's Fordham neighborhood for just $1,450/month. The apartment is big on closet space and wood trimming, and has a large living room that is illuminated by incoming light through a pair of windows. The nearest train station is about three blocks away.

↑ $1,550/month rents this sunny one-bedroom in Inwood. This no-frills apartment provides all the essentials: a spacious living room, practical kitchen, a well-sized bedroom, and seemingly decent storage space.

MQ Realty.

↑ A 450-square-foot studio with a fresh renovation in Jackson Heights is asking $1,550/month. High ceilings, new hardwood floors, a large kitchen, and an updated bathroom are its featurss.

↑ Finally, there's a bright studio in Gowanus for $1,550/month. Through the distorted listing photos, we can see that the space offers exposed brick, crown molding, a tiny kitchen, generous overhead storage; per the listing, there's also a washer/dryer unit.
