In the Dakota, a co-op facing Central Park lists for the first time in 50 years

If you've been biding your time until a suitably grand abode opens up at the Dakota, the moment has finally arrived: a "magnificent" eight-room apartment in the iconic building just hit the market, listed for an equally grand $12.5 million.

Listed for what the brokerbabble says is the first time in more than 50 years, the three-bedroom, two-and-a-half bath co-op is not, one might note, at the height of contemporary design—the yellow paint/dark wood combo in the library has a definite vintage vibe—but the place is no shortage of well-preserved original details.

Among the highlights: three wood-burning fireplaces, three sets of original mahogany pocket doors, and original plaster ceiling moldings, and nearly-fourteen-foot ceilings, as well as—the real selling point—four separate rooms with Central Park views.

As it's currently laid out, a foyer leads directly into the living room or the library—choose your own adventure. Past the library are the three bedrooms, looking out over Central Park West, with the master at the far end of the apartment, complete with a separate dressing room and en-suite bath.

The "huge, square" living room, meanwhile, gives way to an "expansive dining room," both overlooking the Dakota's interior courtyard, and an eat-in kitchen. There is also a maid's room with its own half bath.

The listing isn't the only recent shake up in the legendary building: last month, an apartment on Yoko Ono's floor that may or may not have once belonged to Judy Garland sold for $10 million after two years on the market.
