Architect César Pelli sells sprawling San Remo apartment for $24M

The 5,000-square-foot, Central Park-facing apartment came on the market for $26 million in May 2017

Architect César Pelli of the firm Pelli Clarke Pelli has managed to sell his sprawling San Remo apartment, just over a year after he listed it on the market. Pelli was asking $26 million for the Central Park-facing, 5,000-square-foot pad, but he ended up getting $2 million less, according to The Real Deal, which first reported on the sale.

The buyer is Laurie Tisch, an art collector and philanthropist, who is the daughter of the co-founder of the Leows Corporation. Earlier this year, the New York Times spoke with her about her massive art collection in her Upper East Side apartment.

Tisch's new Upper West Side home should give her a lot more space to display her collection. For Pelli, while the sale is $2 million below his ask, it's still significantly more than the $17.5 million he paid for it in 2015.
