The three-tower development will bring 857 apartments to the neighborhood
Eliot Spitzer's massive South Williamsburg rental complex has launched leasing on hundreds of its units with studios here asking from a pricey $2,350/month. The project includes three towers divided between two buildings, but the overall development has adopted the address of 420 Kent Avenue.
The tower that stands on its own (technically at 416 Kent Avenue) will open first, and will be followed by the opening of the interconnected towers. The standalone tower has 252 apartments, while the interconnected towers have 605 rentals. Aside from the studios, the buildings will also have one-bedrooms and two-bedrooms with the former starting at $3,195/month, and the latter starting from $4,649/month. For prospective tenants looking to sign up right now, Spitzer Enterprises is offering no sign up fees, and one month free of rent.
Typical apartments at 420 Kent have floor to ceiling windows, and oak floors; in the kitchens they have caesarstone countertops, ceramic backsplashes, a Bertazzoni gas range, and a Bosch dishwasher, and washer & dryer; bathrooms here have tiled flooring and walls, and a medicine cabinet with built-in lighting.
As with any massive development, 420 Kent has a plethora of amenities including two rooftop swimming pools (one in each building), a fitness center that measures 12,000 square feet, a landscaped rooftop garden with lounge seating, a coffee bar in the lobby, a billiards and gaming room, and that's just half the list. Much like its neighboring megproject, Domino, 420 Kent also has a waterfront park, but it's not quite at the scale of Domino Park. The waterfront esplanade at 420 Kent will measure 34,000 square feet.
Former New York Governor Eliot Spitzer stressed to Curbed on a recent phone call that the "Hollywood-like views of Manhattan in every direction," were among the standout features of the development, which is scheduled to welcome its first set of residents in September.
When asked about competition from nearby projects, like Domino, Spitzer said he viewed all the projects in totality and how they would contribute to the vitality of the neighborhood.
"There is a nucleus of energy and a core of dynamism that draws people to Williamsburg," Spitzer said. "Our project doesn't have to compete with all the great buildings in the neighborhood, all the buildings here contribute to the budding neighborhood," added Spitzer referring specifically to South Williamsburg.
Leasing and marketing at 420 Kent is being handled by Citi Habitats New Developments, and ODA New York designed the project.
