For $2.75M, a historic Prospect Lefferts Gardens home with a refreshing revamp

The townhouse dates back to the 1800s but you would never know by looking at its interiors

Prospect Lefferts Gardens is no stranger to beautiful historic townhouses and this 120-year-old home, asking $2.75 million, is no different. The house dates back to 1898 and was designed by architect William Miller, but a full renovation has blended modern convenience with its historic charm.

Spanning 3,800 square feet, the single-family abode offers five bedrooms and 2.5 bathrooms spread across five floors. Upon entering through the parlor floor, you encounter an open sitting room on the right— complete with a wood-burning fireplace and built-in bookshelves— a rear dining room, arched stained glass windows, and a room toward the rear that can be utilized as a home office or a small bedroom. On the garden level, there is a living room, a huge eat-in chef's kitchen, a powder room, laundry area, and access to the landscaped backyard.

The second and third levels are where the bulk of the bedrooms are found. The master bedroom includes an en-suite bathroom with a claw foot tub and there is another bedroom that also features an en-suite bathroom as well. Between the two floors, there are nine closets that give ample storage space.

There is a full basement and other modern perks include central air conditioning/heating and a built-in surround sound system. Original details like wainscoting, pocket doors, and a skylight were preserved and can be spotted throughout the home.
