In Bushwick, a glass factory-turned-swanky rental launches from $2,500/month

Glassworks Bushwick, which was designed by ASH NYC, has a total of 63 rentals

Bushwick's 19th century glass factory-turned-swanky-rental, Glassworks Bushwick, has now launched leasing on its 63 apartments with one-bedrooms asking from $2,500/month. For this somewhat unique development, architecture and real estate firm ASH NYC, teamed up with the owner of the former Dannenhoffer Opalescent Glassworks factory, Martin Lomazow, to create this half-block rental development on Himrod Street.

The original glass factory building is now flanked by two four-story structures on either side, though all three buildings are connected on the interior. The structure on the northern portion of this property features a dark stucco facade and smoked glass balconies, whereas the one on the other end is inspired by 20th century loft buildings.

"In a neighborhood known for its creatively re-imagined industrial spaces and diverse housing stock, we're excited to offer a rental building that fuses modern and historic design with the services, amenities and attention to detail associated with today's best, new developments," said Ari Heckman, the CEO of ASH NYC, in a statement.

Almost all of the studios through three-bedrooms offered here have some form of outdoor space whether its juliet balconies, terraces, or in some cases, rear yards. Apartments here have custom-designed light fixtures by ASH NYC, and stainless steel appliances, among other features.

Amenities in the development include a fitness center, indoor bike parking, a parking garage for vehicles, laundry services, private and public working areas, a cobblestone paved rear yard, and a 1,700-square-foot roof deck with a barbecue area.

The project was first announced in July 2014, and has made steady progress since. The first interior photos were published in December last year, and now the rental is ready to welcome its first set of residents.
