In Williamsburg, a boutique rental inspired by area’s ‘working past’ launches

House No.94 has 60 market-rate rentals and 15 affordable apartments

Much of Williamsburg's recent rental activity has been clustered on the neighborhood's south side, with major projects like 325 Kent Avenue (part of the larger Domino megaproject, and near the new Domino Park) and nearby 420 Kent Avenue, Eliot Spitzer's three-building waterfront complex, among the buildings that have recently welcomed residents.

But up in the neighborhood's crowded north side, new apartments are still popping up. One of those projects, Hudson Companies' House No.94, recently launched leasing on its 60 market-rate units; an additional 15 affordable apartments became available in the city's affordable housing lottery late last year.

Marvel Architects designed the seven-story building, located on North 3rd Street between Berry and Wythe avenues. According to the architects, the design has "large industrial proportions that reflect the historic fabric of the neighborhood's working past."

Today, the building is right in the thick of the neighborhood's most chain-filled stretch—Whole Foods, J. Crew, SoulCycle, and the Apple Store are all nearby—but close to other beloved area businesses like Nitehawk Cinemas and the Bedford Avenue mini-mall. There's 15,000 square feet of ground-floor retail here, too,

Inside, the apartments are sleek and modern, with huge floor-to-ceiling windows (which come with custom shades), Swedish wood floors, and high-end appliances. The units are a mix of studios, one-, and two-bedrooms; of the five that are currently listed as available on House No.94's website, the cheapest is a $2,454/month studio, and the priciest is a $3,638/month one-bedroom.

The building also offers a slate of relatively-standard-but-appealing amenities, including concierge service, Wi-Fi in the common areas, a fitness center, and a communal interior courtyard. There are also two shared roof terraces, which are equipped with gas grills and eating areas.
