New York City is an architecture-lover's paradise, with iconic buildings from architects as diverse as Stanford White, Frank Lloyd Wright, and Marcel Breuer on seemingly every city block.

But travel outside the five boroughs and you'll find plenty of sites that boast amazing architecture of their own, whether you're a midcentury modern fanatic or into gorgeously preserved 19th-century homes.
