$3.9 East Harlem townhouse is neighborhood’s most expensive sold home

The four-bedroom townhouse bested the area's previous $2.24 million record

It was just a few months ago that a duplex condo at 1399 Park Avenue in East Harlem was poised to shatter the neighborhood's previously-held record for the priciest home sale. But closings at that new development have yet to begin, and a townhouse sale has come along to claim the title of East Harlem's most expensive home sold.

The house in question is located at 122 East 101st Street, and was listed with Corcoran's Jane Wilson and Peter Gordenstein for $3.995 million. The sale closed this month, and a Corcoran rep confirms that the final price was an even $3.9 million. The neighborhood's previous record-holder was a $2.24 million penthouse at 2132 Second Avenue.

For that price, the new owners will get four bedrooms over 4,500 square feet of space, along with an 1,100-square-foot roof deck, a chef's kitchen, marble bathrooms, a finished basement with a steam room, and more.

Its final sale price is a solid $300,000 more than the most expensive condo in contract at 1399 Park Avenue, which was asking $3.6 million. But there's a chance the East Harlem record could once again be bested; two condos at that Park Avenue building are still on the market, with both asking $3.95 million.
