Harlem River-fronting affordable rentals in Mott Haven available from $822/month

The 12-story building has 124 apartments in a mix of studios through three-bedrooms

Early last year, Monadnock Construction (the developer behind NYC's first micro-unit building) announced that it was partnering with Urban Properties LLC to bring over 250 affordable apartments and a hotel to Mott Haven in the the Bronx. Now they've launched the affordable housing lottery on one of the two buildings that make up the residential component of this development.

530 Exterior Street has 124 affordable apartments up for grabs. That's slightly down from the 157 apartments we reported in January 2016. Apartments at this 13-story building will vary in size from studios through three-bedrooms. The breakdown of the apartments is as follows: 19 are studios, 53 are one-bedrooms, 43 are two-bedrooms, and nine are three-bedrooms.

Prices start at $822 per month for the studios and go up to $1,224 per month for a three-bedroom. Apartments are open to a variety of income brackets that range from $30,069 to $66,420 for a variety of family sizes. Here's the full breakdown:

Residents here will have access to a host of amenities including a fitness center, a recreation room, laundry room, bike storage, and an outdoor recreation area. As for the apartments, they will be fitted with stainless steel appliances, vinly plank flooring, and granite kitchen countertops and backsplashes.

The other affordable rental that's part of the overall development is located at 491 Gerard Avenue and will have 136 apartments spread out over 12 floors. There's also a Hampton Inn that's part of the development, and that will rise at 110 East 49th Street and bring 152 rooms to the neighborhood. All three buildings have been designed by Dattner Architects.
