Essex Crossing's 115 Delancey Street tower gets its facade

The 24-story building will host a Regal Cinemas as well as the Essex Street Market

Lower East Side's Essex Crossing 9-site megaproject has just hit another construction milestone: the Handel Architects-designed tower rising at 115 Delancey Street, or Site Two, recently topped out in October and now photos captured by Field Condition show that the 24-story mixed-use tower has received most of its curtain wall, meaning facade installation is nearing completion.

The project houses 195 rentals, of which 98 are affordable, and will feature interiors crafted by SHoP Architects. A five-story podium sits at the building's base and will become home to parts of the Essex Street Market along with a 14-screen Regal Cinema theater, and the entrance to the Market Line. An urban farm will occupy the podium's rooftop.

Once complete, the entire Essex Crossing development project will bring more than 1,000 new apartments to the Lower East Side, with half of them allotted for affordable housing.

Earlier this month, developers revealed renderings for the Beyer Blinder Belle-designed building that will rise at 140 Essex Street and will become an eight-story building with 92 fully-affordable apartments for seniors.

115 Delancey Street is expected to open its doors sometime in 2018.
