In the Bronx, 180 affordable rentals up for grabs from $396/month

The development features a mix of one, two, and three-bedrooms

A large, new affordable housing development has launched the lottery on its 180 units in the Bronx. The apartments are spread between two different buildings at 1939 West Farms Road, and 1926 Longfellow Avenue, both of which are located a short distance away from the Bronx River, and the Bronx Zoo, in the West Farms neighborhood.

The development features a mix of one, two, and three-bedroom units with prices starting at $396 per month. The apartments are open to those making 30, 40, 50, 60, and 120 percent of the area median income, which roughly translates to annual incomes ranging between $15,532 and $132,840, depending on the size of the unit and income bracket. On the upper end, apartments here will rent at $1,898 per month. A majority of the apartments here are two-bedrooms.

Residents at the West Farms Apartments, as this project is known, will also have access to a parking lot, an outdoor recreation area, a community room, a resident super, bicycle storage, and coin-operated laundry rooms. Residents within Bronx Community Board 6 will be given a preference on half of the units. Prospective residents have until January 5, 2018 to apply, so it's likely that construction will wrap soon after that.
