If you're not up to venturing out, here's how you can catch up on all the action
In less than 24 hours, thousands of ambitious runners will embark on a grueling 26.2-mile course as they tackle the annual TCS NYC Marathon. The first wave of runners will take off at 8:30 a.m. with various waves or runners starting afterwards, beginning in Staten Island and making their way through each borough before ending at the southern end of Central Park.
Earlier this week, Governor Andrew Cuomo announced that additional security measures will be put in place for this year's marathon in the wake of this week's attack on pedestrians at the West Side Highway. Resources from the New York state police and the National Guard, along with MTA and Port Authority officers will accompany the NYPD in ensuring safety during the event.
The official marathon website has put out a detailed spectator's guide, but if you're not really feeling the motivation to cheer alongside flocks of people, you can watch the parade from the comforts of your own home.
The marathon will broadcast live coverage on ABC7 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. while the channel's website will livestream the entire race. Runner's World will be offering commentary on Twitter, and we can almost guarantee that there will be a plethora of Facebook and Instagram livestreams to capture all of the action, so just keep a look out for them.
