New looks at Moinian’s Hudson Yards office tower, 3 Hudson Boulevard

The tower will rise to 940 feet and offer up 2 million square feet of office space

The Moinian Group held a groundbreaking ceremony for its planned office tower, 3 Hudson Boulevard, in Hudson Yards, earlier today, and with it the developer has released several new renderings of the project.

We learned earlier this week that the office tower had lost its supertall status and been reduced from 1,050 feet to 940 feet. Moinian still doesn't have an anchor tenant for the project, but work is now moving forward undeterred. The developers were waiting on the MTA to wrap up infrastructure work on the 7 train extension at 34th Street, and now that that's out of the way, work can move forward unimpeded.

Despite the change in the size of the building, Moinian has retained FXFOWLE for the project. Governor Andrew Cuomo was also in attendance at Friday's groundbreaking event.

"The groundbreaking of 3 Hudson Boulevard is another significant step in developing the Hudson Yards District and attracting new businesses and investments to the Far West Side of Manhattan," Cuomo said in a statement.

The office tower, which will take up a full block between Eleventh Avenue and Hudson Boulevard Park, and West 34th and 35th Streets, will also include 12,600 square feet of retail. Construction on this project is expected to wrap in 2021.
