The weather transformed in the blink of an eye
In a New York minute, today's weather has managed to go from a warm and sunny spring day to a dark and gloomy mess with Armageddon-like rains, accompanied by high winds, hail, thunder, and lightning.
The National Weather Service reports that rainfall across the city could reach as much as an inch and has issued a severe storm warning as well as a flood advisory that will remain in effect until around 11 p.m. Of course, this has created one big transit mess, with downed trees resulting in suspended Metro-North service and delays on several subway lines.
While the bulk of New Yorkers are probably making an earnest attempt to stay out of the rain, there are those camera-ready folks who see the storm as opportunity to capture some intriguing storm shots (and we thank them for their dedication). NBC4 was in Midtown and captured a video of storm winds blowing water out of a rooftop pool (!) and Instagrammers shared photos of the city's skyline quickly transforming into something that looks like a scene straight out of a movie. Here's what folks shared so far:
Whoa! That is water being blown out of a pool right now on top of a high rise in Midtown! #nbc4ny pic.twitter.com/BDMXDwP999
