In East Harlem, 12 rentals asking from $856/month hit the lottery

The apartments are a mix of studios, one-, and two-bedrooms

A new rental building at 2183 Third Avenue in East Harlem has launched the affordable lottery for 12 of its 59 units. The Sharon Kahen and Haim Levi-developed project kicked off construction back in 2015, after the site was purchased for $3.8 million, and is being designed by Gerald Caliendo Architects.

There are four studios that each rent for $856, five one-bedrooms going for $985/month, and three two-bedrooms for $1,114/month. The apartments cater to individuals making 60 percent of the area median income, meaning that households earning between $29,349 and $62,580 (depending on apartment and household size).

The 12-story building will also be home to a medical facility on the ground floor and 20,000 square feet of retail space. Building amenities will include a gym, rooftop, a recreation area, and a laundry room.

The deadline to apply for the affordable units is June 20.
