In Long Island City, a slender, parking lot-replacing rental launches

The nine-story development has a total of 194 apartments, including 59 affordable units

Just a block away from the Hunters Point Avenue 7 train stop, a large new rental building is gearing up to launch leasing on its 194 apartments. Designed by Aufgang Architects, the slender rental stretches almost the entire length of the block along 49th Avenue, between 21st Street and 11th Place.

The rentals here come in studios through three-bedroom variants with prices on the former expected to start around $2,000/month (net effective rent). One-bedrooms will begin around $3,000/month, two-bedroom, two-bathroom units at about $4,615/month, and three-bedroom, two-bathrooms with private terraces at around $7,000/month.

Of the total units, 59 have been set aside as affordable housing, though pricing on those units hasn't yet been revealed. Amenities at the building include a card-operated laundry room, a bike room, a package room, a gym, and a rooftop lounge.

The Criterion Group and Madd Equities-developed project has now been dubbed Hunters Landing. The project came about after the developers purchased a parking lot at this site back in 2013. Construction has been moving along steadily over the past couple of years, and the first set of residents are expected to move in in July.

Leasing and marketing is being handled by Nest Seekers International, but the listings have yet to come online.
