Wee Wee Pad inventor wants $39.9M for Upper East Side condo with Central Park views

The 5,427-square-foot condo has 10 rooms and a private elevator vestibule

Owned by Allen Simon, a pet entrepreneur who created the Wee Wee potty pads for dogs, this opulent condo, asking $39.9 million, is one of nine residences at 838 Fifth Avenue. The building is located at the corner of 66th Street and Fifth Avenue, which overlooks Central Park.

The building, according to the Wall Street Journal, which first covered the listing, was originally designed in the 1950s for the Union of American Hebrew Congregations. Simon and his wife bought the condo in 2000 for $10.8 million as a "raw space" and built out the lavish interiors from scratch, the broker, Daniela Kunen, told the WSJ.

The Versailles-mimicking interiors at this massive condo are among its most extravagant features. Additionally, it has a private elevator that opens at the reception gallery, a studio area with a kitchenette that can be used as a staff room, a private service hall, and a staff office. The 5,427-square-foot apartment also boasts five bedrooms and five baths, and a wood-paneled library with gold-leaf ceilings.

The sumptuous property also features EuroCave wine cellars, a fireplace, and two Juliet balconies.
